Cut the tomatoes in half through the widest part. Using a small spoon, remove some of the seeds. Season the tomato halves with salt and place them cut side down on a rack to drain for 20 minutes.
We will need a baking dish where we can place the 8 halves of the tomatoes.
In a small bowl, combine the garlic, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, basil, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, olive oil, and breadcrumbs for the filling.
Season the inside of the tomatoes with pepper and fill them with 1 or 2 tablespoons of the mixture. Drizzle with a few drops of olive oil and arrange them in the baking dish. Sprinkle with thyme.
Place in the oven at 400ºF for 10 minutes, checking that they do not lose their shape. They should be slightly golden. Remove from the oven and let them cool a bit before serving.
