Rice Onigiri

  • 2 cups rice, cooked
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar, for the rice
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil, for the rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt, for the rice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar, for the rice
  • 1/2 cups oyster sauce, for the rice
  • 1 tablespoon honey, for the rice
  • 2 eggs, for the rice
  • 1/2 cups rice flour, for the rice
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil, for frying
  • soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds, for decoration
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, white, for decoration
  • 1 nori, for decoration

  • Mix in a bowl the cooked rice with the rice vinegar, sesame oil, salt, sugar, oyster sauce, honey, egg, and rice flour until completely integrated. You should obtain a slightly moist mixture.
  • Place an 8-centimeter diameter ring in a pan with hot sesame oil, pour a bit of the previous mixture with a compact spoon and fry over medium-low heat for 3 minutes without removing the ring; once the time has elapsed, remove the ring and flip the patty; cook until fully fried. Repeat until all the dough is used.
  • Coat the rice circles with soy sauce, add black and white sesame seeds, place a rectangle of nori seaweed. Serve with soy sauce.
