Salvadoran Curtido

Delicious curtido to accompany pupusas, a typical dish from El Salvador, very simple to prepare and delightful to enjoy with family.

  • 1 cabbage, or Cabbage
  • 3 carrots
  • 1/4 onions
  • 100 milliliters vinegar
  • 1 pinch ground oregano
  • 1 pinch salt

  • Chop the cabbage, carrot, and onion into thin strips.
  • Place the cabbage in boiling water for one and a half minutes.
  • Wash the cabbage with room temperature water.
  • Mix the cabbage, carrot, and onion in a large bowl.
  • Bring the vinegar to a boil.
  • Add the vinegar, oregano, and salt to taste, and mix.
  • Let it sit for 30 minutes and it's ready.
