Esquite Soup

  • 4 tomatoes, skinless and boiled, for the sauce
  • 1/4 onions, roasted, for the sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, roasted, for the sauce
  • 3 árbol chiles, seedless and hydrated for the sauce
  • 1 cup chicken broth, for the sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for the soup
  • 1 can Juanita’s® Mexican-style hominy, (25 ounces)
  • 3 tablespoons epazote, dry for the soup
  • 1 cup chicken, cooked and shredded for the soup
  • salt

  • queso fresco
  • chile powder
  • lime, to accompany

  • For the sauce, blend the tomato, onion, garlic, tree chili, and chicken broth.
  • For the soup, in a small pot with hot oil, pour in the drained can of authentic JUANITA’S® Mexican-style corn. Add the broth, dried epazote, chicken, salt, and pepper.
  • Serve the soup and decorate with fresh cheese, chili powder, and lime. Enjoy.
