How to make lentils

This lentil recipe is a staple that should not be missing from your daily menu, as it is a very economical and yielding option.

  • 1 cup lentils
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 cups water, for cooking the lentils
  • 1/4 onions, for the sauté
  • 1/2 cups bacon, for the sauté
  • 1/4 cups onion, finely chopped, for the sauté
  • 1 cup tomato, for the sauté
  • salt
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • corn tortillas, for serving

  • Soak the lentils in 2 cups of water for 3 hours. Rinse and set aside.
  • Cook the lentils over medium heat with 3 cups of water and the onion for 30 minutes.
  • While the lentils are cooking, sauté the bacon in a pan until slightly browned. Then, with the fat rendered from the bacon, sauté the onion for 5 minutes, add the tomato, and sauté for another 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • Pour the previous preparation into the lentils, add salt, and cook for 30 minutes. Finally, add the bunch of cilantro and cook for 15 more minutes. Adjust the seasoning and serve the lentils.
