How to blind bake

Blind baking means that you bake the pie crust without the filling; this tip can be useful when making pies that require a firmer crust, such as cheesecake or chocolate tart. If you want to learn how to blind bake your pie crust, follow my secret.

Step by Step

For this tip you need:

Place the freshly made dough in your greased pan. Chill the dough base for half an hour in the freezer.

Prick the base with a fork several times to allow air to escape and prevent bubbles from forming.

Place parchment paper over the dough, covering it completely.

Add raw rice or beans on top of the paper to act as weights so your dough doesn't deform.

Bake until your crust is cooked.

Let it cool and add the filling.
