Plants are the perfect decoration for your home, adding life and color to your house; however, sometimes the leaves accumulate dust and dirt. Here you will learn the step-by-step process to keep them always radiant and shiny.
Soap and water mixture. In one liter of warm water, add a teaspoon of liquid soap for white laundry, stir well. Soak a cotton cloth with this mixture and wipe the leaves of the plants. In addition to making the leaves very shiny, this mixture helps protect the plants from some pests, such as aphids. Clean the leaves at least once a month.
1
Mayonnaise. With a damp cloth, wipe the leaves of the plants to remove dust, allowing them to dry completely. With another cloth, spread a little mayonnaise on the leaves of the plants, rubbing them until they have a nice shine.
2
Mineral oil. This product yields very good results, but you must be very careful when using it; it is only recommended to do this tip twice a year, and once you rub it on the leaves, they should not be in direct sunlight. In a spray bottle, mix three parts water to one part mineral oil, stir well, and spray the leaves of the plants. With a dry cloth, rub the leaves of the plants.
3
With a toothbrush or brush. For those plants whose leaves do not have a smooth texture (like African violets), use a soft toothbrush or brush to shake off the dust.
4
With a bucket and water. Fill a bucket halfway with water. Very carefully, turn the plant upside down and immerse it in the water for a few seconds; it is only necessary to moisten the leaves, so avoid wetting the soil. Dry the leaves with a cloth. Repeat this step at least once a month to keep your plants looking radiant.
