The ate is a typical Mexican dessert that you can enjoy as a dessert or a sweet snack, in this case it is guava but you can also make other fruits and accompany it with cheese.

Ingredients

1 portion
  • 1 kilo guava, mature, but firm
  • 2 apples, the shells and the hearts
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 4 lemons, the juice

Preparation

Boil the guavas in 1 liter of water, it may be 3 to 5 minutes until the peel begins to burst.
Separately, boil the shells and hearts of the apples in 1 cup of water. For 20 minutes on low heat. What we want is to obtain the pectin.
Apart, boil 1 liter of water with the sugar until a syrupy consistency is obtained, remove from the heat and add the previously cast apple water.
In another pot, pour the guavas over low heat. Add the syrup you made and the lemon juice. Move until the bottom of the container is visible (approximately 45 minutes).
Remove from heat, cover a rectangular aluminum mold with waxed paper. Pour the mixture and let it rest for 24 hours.
