Ingredients

10 servings
  • 1 kilo of Mexican hawthorn whole
  • 3 cups of Water
  • 1/2 Cup of sugar
  • 1 piece of piloncillo grated
  • 1 twig of cinnamon
  • 2 pieces of star anise

    Preparation

    In a small pot place the tejocotes with water, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and star anise, bring it to boil, then lower the heat at the minimum and cook for about 1 hour, taking care to fill with water if necessary.
    Remove from heat and cool, serve in glass cups with a little syrup. Decorate with a slice of cinnamon and a leaf of mint. Enjoy

    Keep the tejocotes in a jar with a little syrup.

    TIPS

    You can submerge your tejocotes in water and lime, this in order to make the skin harder and more consistent, remember that if you do this you have to rinse them with plenty of water to remove excess lime.
