A dessert for Lent, it is delicious and very complete in its ingredients, very balanced and you can eat cold and warm if you wish.The capirotada is the combination of a Roman dish - brought to our country by the Spaniards, during the colonial domination - and an Aztec dish.

Ingredients

8 portions
  • 8 bread roll, sliced
  • 2 piloncillos
  • 1 cinnamon
  • 1 cup walnut, in halves
  • 1 cup raisin, white or black
  • 1 cup peanut, Toasted (not salted)
  • 1/2 cups grated coconut, (optional)
  • 1 cup fresh cheese, fallen apart
  • 1/2 cups butter, melted

Preparation

In a deep casserole, heat 1 liter of water with the cinnamon and 2 piloncillos, remove from the fire when the piloncillos have been disrupted and wait for it to warm (tibie).
Spread the melted butter on just 1 side of the slices of bread and put a layer on the base of a glass refractory.
Add a capita of peanuts, coconut, raisins and cheese, then add another layer of bread and nuts and cheese, go forming several layers to finish the bread and the ingredients the nuts only place them on the top of the capirotada and the cheese more abundant.
Pour the liquid from the piloncillos on the layers of bread and nuts, wet it well, if possible you can press with a spoon to imbue everything with the liquid.
It gets into the refrigerator for about 1 hour. And be ready!

PRESENTATION

You can put it in individual molds if you want a more ideal presentation, but traditionally it is cut from the refractory and placed in cups or on a plate, there are people who eat it warm or freshly made. Cold suggestion is your best way to eat

TIPS

Remember that per person is a piece of hard bread, coconut is optional. It is always first to make the piloncillo and cinnamon syrup to be able to let it cool, while doing that process you can cut the hard bread into slices and spread it with the butter, saving time.
