Ingredients

13 portions
  • 2 1/2 cups wheat flour
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cups butter
  • 1 orange, juice and zest
  • 2 cups milk, liquid
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1/2 cups Water, cold

Preparation

Base mass; -We started preparing the dough by placing the flour, baking powder and sugar in a container, all previously sifted.
-Then we add butter, eggs, essence and orange zest and mix to form a dough without kneading a lot we form a ball, wrap it in plastic and bring it to refrigerate for about 20 minutes.
-When this time we remove the dough and spread it in a previously greased mold and with the help of our hands we will shape it so that all the bottom and walls of our mold are well covered, trying to make the dough as thin as possible and To make sure it does not rise too much, we prick it with a fork before baking.
-We take the previously heated oven to 180ºC and let it bake for a space of 15 to 30min according to the capacity of each oven. When it starts to brown, the edges will be ready. (careful not to burn)
-Remove this out of the oven and let it rest in its same mold.
Orange Cream; -In a pot put the 2 cups of milk, orange juice, zest, sugar, 2 yolks and cornstarch and take fire to beat to thicken.
-Apart hydrated the gelatin in the half cup of water.
-When the cream starts to thicken, add the gelatine and mix well until it dissolves completely and continues to beat until it thickens completely. We go down from the fire and let it rest, when it is at room temperature we add the mixture to the mold where we had resting the base, we put to refrigerate until curd well.

PRESENTATION

Ready this we can unmold and decorate with segments of orange and meringue. Which can be done with the 2 egg whites that are left over and 1/4 cup of sugar.

TIPS

Keep refrigerated until serving time.
