French Apple Pie

This delicious apple pie has applesauce and a frosting of apricot jam.

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 115 grams butter, in small pieces, cold
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 cups Water, frost
  • 2 green apples, peeled and cut into very thin slices (let soak in lemon juice)
  • 1 cup Apple sauce
  • 2 teaspoons powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cups apricot jam, heated 30 seconds in the microwave


In a bowl, mix the flour, butter, butter and salt. With your fingers stir everything well.
Add 1/4 cup of ice water and stir a little more to incorporate, add more water if necessary to form a soft dough.
With the palm of the hand, press the dough on a surface with flour, striating the dough a little to soften it. Form a ball and wrap in egapack. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
Grease a cake mold of 25 cms and arrange the dough to cover the edges of the mold. Cut the remaining dough edges. With a fork, make holes in the dough and reach the refrigerator for another 30 minutes.
Put the applesauce on top of the pie crust.
Dry the apples and arrange on top of the apple puree, arranging all the slices for the same side forming a circle. Sprinkle with the icing sugar.
Bake the cake in the bottom of the oven for 45 minutes or until the apples begin to brown a little.
Coat the apples with the apricot jam and let the cake cool on a rack.
