Heart meringues

Heart-shaped meringues stuffed with strawberries. A delicious dessert for Valentine's Day.

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 3/4 of Cup of Refined sugar Great Value®
  • 1 pinch of Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoonful of vanilla
  • to taste of Strawberry fresh
  • to taste of Great Value® glass sugar to decorate

    Preparation

    Preheat the oven to 95 degrees centigrade. Prepare a baking sheet with wax paper and a heart-shaped cookie cutter to paint 4 hearts on the paper.
    Place a deep bowl that is heat resistant over a pot of boiling water.
    Combine egg whites, sugar and salt. Beat with a balloon whisk until the sugar has dissolved, about 2 minutes.
    Remove from heat and beat with an electric mixer until hard peaks form. Add the vanilla and beat.
    Place the meringue in a pastry bag with a round tip of 1.2 cm.
    Cover a heart with a layer of meringue and place a second and third layer around the heart only. Repeat with the other 3 hearts.
    Bake for 20 minutes, lower the heat to 90 degrees and bake until the meringues are crisp but still white, about 1 1/4 of an hour.
    Wash and disinfect the strawberries and cut in half. When serving, place strawberries in the center of the meringue and decorate with icing sugar.

    PRESENTATION

    Serve in colorful dishes to highlight the white of the meringues.
