6 portions
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cups Water
  • 4 apples
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • drops Water
  • 2/3 cups whipping cream

Sprinkle the flour and 6 tablespoons of sugar, then add the cold butter cubes and with your hand begins to undo with the flour, then you will gradually add the cold water, integrates everything to form a ball and it goes in the refrigerator cooling.
Peel the 4 apples, split them in half, remove their hearts, cut them into slices and leave them on the side with a little lemon to prevent them from rusting.
Remove the dough from the refrigerator, separate it into two parts, first stretch it until it reaches half a centimeter thick, put it in the mold and chop it with a fork the whole base. The other part of the dough is stretched and left the same thickness, then cut the edges trying to leave a box and this is cut into strips of one and a half centimeters wide.
You preheat the oven to 375 ° F for 15 minutes. For the toffee, we put the sugar in a saucepan and sprinkle it with a few drops of water. Put the fire and let the sugar gradually crystallize, melt and take color. You have to watch it so that it does not burn.
While the caramel is being made slowly, heat the liquid whipping cream in the microwave so that it is at the highest possible temperature and there is not a great contrast in temperatures when we mix it with the caramel.
Removing from time to time so that it is done uniformly, we will obtain a candy first clear and then darker. Once a sufficiently golden color has been reached, we remove the saucepan from the fire. In two or three times and with great care, add cream to beat and stir to mix well.
Once all the cream has been incorporated, stir and put the saucepan on the fire again so that it takes on a homogeneous texture and turns the color up again. When it is to taste, we put out the fire.
We put the apples in the base and followed by this we add the toffee on top, they put the dough strips and start to cross them. Sprinkle with sugar the dough and put the pie in the oven for half an hour or until the dough looks golden.

It can be served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a little sprinkled cinnamon.

You can use a little rum for the toffee, you can eat the cold or hot pie.
