Tejocotes in Almíbar

Delicious tejocotes in a syrup of sugar, cinnamon and cloves. A simple dessert with a delicious flavor and perfect to consume in the winter season, which is where in Mexico most of this fruit we find. It is economical and very rich.

Ingredients

8 portions
  • 1 kilo Mexican hawthorn, cleansed
  • 5 grams white lime
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 rajas cinnamon
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest

Preparation

In a bowl with plenty of water add the lime and the tejocotes and soak for an hour. Remove the tejocotes and place in a pot with water and boil for 10 minutes. Remove and remove the skin and return to the pot. Cook for 30 minutes over medium heat.
To make the syrup in a pot, mix 8 cups of water with the sugar, cinnamon, cloves and orange zest. Let it boil until it is reduced by half.
In a blender grind 3 tejocotes with the syrup.

PRESENTATION

Present the tejocotes with the syrup in a large dish. It can be decorated with a slice of canéla.

TIPS

You can store the tejocotes in the syrup in refrigeration for up to 3-4 days.
