These weathered little fishes are the homemade version of those we find in the market stalls or street vendors of Mexico City. Prepare them for a weekend of craving and accompany them with various garnishes, such as rice, coleslaw or lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Ingredients

4 portions
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • enough mineral water
  • 2 cups fish, in strips
  • 1/4 cups lemon juice
  • to taste salt
  • enough vegetal oil
  • enough spicy sauce, To accompany
  • potatoes, sauteed, to accompany

Preparation

In a bowl, mix the wheat flour with the baking powder, salt, pepper and mineral water until it is semi-thick. Reservation.
Marinate the fish with lemon juice and salt for 10 minutes. Then dip the fish in the flour preparation.
Heat a pot with enough oil and fry the fish for about 10 minutes. Serve with garnish chips and hot sauce; accompany with dressings and enjoy.

PRESENTATION

Serve with sauteed potatoes and dip with sauce or other dressings to taste.

TIPS

Season the flour and the fish well so that they are full of flavor.
