Try these delicious chalupitas of carnitas with onion, coriander and Don Danny Herdez® sauce. The chalupitas are fried tortillas and are a well-known dish of Puebla. With this recipe of chalupas, you will learn to make homemade carnitas from scratch and as a tip, you can also use whole milk to cook the carnitas, they will be extra tasty!

Ingredients

4 portions
  • 400 grams corn dough
  • enough Water
  • 1 tablespoon lard
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • enough lard, to fry
  • 3 tablespoons lard
  • 1 cup onion, In rooms
  • 500 grams Pork Meat
  • 4 branches marjoram
  • 4 branches thyme
  • 3 leaves bay (laurel)
  • 10 black pepper
  • 1 orange, In rooms
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • to taste salt
  • 1 cup Don Danny Herdez® sauce, (300 g)
  • 1/2 cups onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cups fresh coriander, finely chopped
  • enough fresh coriander, to decorate
  • enough lemon, To accompany

Preparation

In a bowl mix the corn dough, water, butter and salt, and knead until fully integrated.
Form balls with your hands and with the help of a press form tortillas, then fry them with the butter. Drain on absorbent paper.
Cook the butter, onion and meat in a casserole dish; Cook until golden brown. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook for 30 minutes.
Mix Don Danny Herdez® Sauce, onion and cilantro in a bowl.
Serve the chalupa, followed by the sauce and the carnitas. Garnish with cilantro, accompany with lemons and enjoy.
