Prepare this Shepherd's Pie recipe. This dish, is ideal to have as a complete meal, because it has the meat as protein, the sweet potato as carbohydrate and the carrot and celery as vegetables. If you want something quick and easy, prepare this delicious meatloaf.In this Shepherd's Pie we suggest you use certain vegetables but the ingredients for the pie can vary to include your favorites, and you can substitute the sweet potato for potatoes. Enjoy this easy recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 sweet potatoes peeled and cut into cubes, for sweet potato puree
  • 1/2 Cup of Butter diced, for sweet potato puree
  • 1 tablespoon of Salt for sweet potato puree
  • 1 tablespoon of black pepper for sweet potato puree
  • 1 tablespoon of nutmeg for sweet potato puree
  • 1 Cup of whipping cream for sweet potato puree
  • 1/4 of Cup of Butter for sweet potato puree
  • 1 egg for sweet potato puree
  • 3 spoonfuls of olive oil for the filling
  • 1 Cup of onion finely chopped, for the filling
  • 2 spoonfuls of garlic finely chopped, for the filling
  • 1/2 Cup of leek finely chopped
  • 1 kilo of ground beef of beef, for the filling
  • 1 Cup of tomato puree for the filling
  • 1 Cup of Red wine for the filling
  • 1 Cup of beef broth for the filling
  • 2 cups of carrot cut into small cubes, for the filling
  • 1 Cup of pea bleached for the filling
  • 1 pinch of Salt
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1 pinch of rosemary finely chopped

Preparation

Preheat the oven 390 °F (200 ° C)
On a sheet of aluminum foil arrange the sweet potatoes, cover with butter, season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to your liking. Wrap and bake until soft and cooked.
Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven, cool and peel. Blend with the whip cream, the butter and the egg until you obtain a very smooth purée. Adjust seasoning and set aside.
For the filling, heat a skillet over medium heat with the olive oil, fry the onion, garlic and pore until they shine. Add the meat and continue cooking until it changes color, add the tomato puree and deglaze with the red wine, fill with the beef broth, cook until it reduces by half, season with salt and pepper, add the vegetables and a touch of rosemary.
In a baking dish place the filling and cover with the mashed sweet potato. Bake for 10 minutes until the puree browns. Remove from the oven, rest a little before serving so that it does not dislodge. Enjoy

PRESENTATION

Serve a slice of the pie and accompany with a side salad.

TIPS

The egg helps to make the mash more consistent and brown, but you may choose to add it or not, it is not essential. You could also substitute meat for lamb meat which is the most common preparation in this dish.
