Sweet and Sour Beer Wings with Habanero and Mango

Making delicious wings at home is possible and easy with this recipe for sweet and sour sauce wings. The magic of these wings is that the sauce is made with habanero jam with mango and a touch of stout beer, which gives it a thick and flavorful consistency. If you want it to be even thicker, use double stout beer and enjoy them accompanied with fried habanero pepper.

  • 4 tablespoons butter, for sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 cup beer, sweet and sour sauce stout
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, for sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 tablespoons onion stem chambray, for sweet and sour sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoons onion powder, for sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 tablespoons habanero pepper, for sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 cup McCormick® mango and habanero jam, for sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 cup flour, for the wings
  • 1 teaspoon paprika, for the wings
  • 1 tablespoon cumin, for the wings
  • 1 teaspoon salt, for the wings
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, for the wings
  • 1 egg, for the wings
  • 1/2 cups milk, for the wings
  • 1 cup flour, for the wings
  • 1/2 cups potato flake, for the wings
  • 20 chicken wings, (cooked)
  • enough oil, to fry the wings
  • enough habanero pepper, fried


For sweet and sour sauce: in a pot over medium heat, heat the butter, stout beer, garlic, onion tail, onion powder, habanero chili, McCormick® mango and habanero jam, cook for 10 minutes, or, until it reduces and has semi-thick consistency. Let cool and reserve.
For the wings: in a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, egg and milk. Place the wings in this mixture and reserve.
Mix the flour and the potato flake, then breach the wings in this mixture.
In a pot with medium heat oil, fry the wings, place on absorbent paper and reserve.
Mix the wings in a bowl with the sweet and sour sauce and serve with fried habanero.


To have a thicker consistency in the sweet and sour sauce, use double stout beer.
