Prepare this rich and traditional bittersweet chicken recipe, with a crunchy batter, accompanied by a sweet and sour sauce with a slightly spicy flavor, together they make the perfect balance in every bite.

  • 1/3 of cup of cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup of Water
  • 1 tablespoon of flakes of chili
  • 1 chicken breast cut into cubes
  • enough of oil
  • 1 cup of pineapple juice for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1/2 cup of sugar for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of white vinegar for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of ketchup for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch for the sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of chili flake for the sweet and sour sauce
  • to taste of salt and pepper
  • to taste of black sesame seed to decorate


In a bowl, mix the corn flour with the wheat flour, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper and water.
Cover the raw chicken breast in the previous mix and fry for 5 minutes in hot oil until golden and puffy. Remove the chicken from the oil and transfer to a plate with absorbent paper towels to drain off the excess oil.
In a sauce pan, heat the pineapple juice with the sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, red pepper flakes and cornstarch. Mix and cook for 10 minutes or until lightly thickened.
Pour the sauce over the fried chicken, mix and serve warm with black sesame seeds.


Serve with rice and a refreshing drink.


Substitute water, for sparkling water to make a fluffy batter.

Excelente receta, divina, fácil y práctica. La salsa agridulce la he usado en otras preparaciones y es igualmente espectacular. Incluso varíe la agridulce sustituyendo el jugo de piña por jugo de tamarindo y queda mundial.
