The arrabiata sauce is a version of the classic marinara sauce with a spicy touch. This sauce can be used for pasta, fish, seafood, chicken and meat.

Ingredients

3 portions
  • 2 cups dehydrated tomato, chopped or whole
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoons pepperoncino Italian crushed red pepper, or red chili
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons basil
  • 1/2 tablespoons salt

Preparation

In a medium pot, heat the oil over medium heat and brown the onions, chili and garlic for 5 minutes. Move the mixture with a spoon to avoid burning.
Add the tomatoes and their juice, the tomato puree, the basil and the spices. Continue cooking until the sauce boils.

TIPS

This recipe produces 3 cups of arrabiata sauce.
