If you are a person who loves bittersweet snacks, this is a recipe you will want to prepare. The homemade Chamoy is a delicious sauce, typical of Mexican cuisine. It is very versatile, since you can use it in peanuts, vegetables, fruits, etc.

Ingredients

12 portions
  • 1 cup dried apricot
  • 1 cup prune
  • 1 cup Hibiscus flower
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 cups chilli powder
  • 1 orange
  • 3 lemons

Preparation

In a saucepan dd water, plum, apricot and jamaica. Cook for 10 minutes.
Place this mixture into a blender and add a little of the cooking water. Add sugar, salt and chili powder.
Blend the mixture until the desired consistency is obtained.
Heat this mixture for 3 minutes.
Once the chamoy is cold, add the juice of an orange and the juice of 3 lemons. Stir and serve.

PRESENTATION

Serve your sauce in a deep dish and accompany it with your favorite snack.

TIPS

Use the ground chile that you like the most, such as: chile piquin, Tajin®, Miguelito®, etc. You can freeze your sauce so it stays fresher longer.

Hola, hice esta receta ayer ya que vivo en Estados Unidos y no consigo chamoy o tamarindo como tal aquí pero conseguir estos ingredientes es más fácil. Quedó increíble, muchas gracias!

Para los que no encuentren el chabacano se puede hacer con tamarindo ya sea que compren la pulpa o la preparen ustedes es súper fácil, y queda rico y si la mescla se pasa por un colador para los que tienen duda . Porque la flor de Jamaica ay queda .
