Ingredients

4 portions
  • 500 grams nopal, chopped
  • 1 onion, slice
  • 200 grams panela cheese, match in squares
  • 3 dried chile de árbol peppers
  • 5 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • to taste salt and pepper

Preparation

Boil chopped nopales until tender.
Drain nopales and rinse with cold water.
In a pan fry the onion; add the nopales to the casserole along with the chile de árbol.
Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Cook for 10 more minutes and rectify the seasoning.
Finally turn off the heat and add the panela cheese in squares letting rest a few minutes.

TIPS

You can substitute panela cheese for manchego cheese to be gratinated.
