Volovanes Stuffed with Mushrooms and Cheese

In this recipe the volvans are prepared with puff pastry but you can also buy ready made. They are stuffed with a cream with mushrooms and very rich parsley!

  • 1/2 kilos puff pastry
  • 1/2 kilos button mushroom, sliced
  • 1/2 onions, minced
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 250 grams velveeta cheese, in squares
  • 1 cup fresh cream


Stretch the pasta with the rolling pin and leave it thin, let it stand for 30 minutes.
With a round grooved cutter cut 24 circles.
Moisten a baking sheet and place 8 circles on the tray. Chop the circles with a fork and moisten the shore with water. Place another circle on top and with a smaller round mold make an incision on top. Repeat with one more layer of puff pastry in a circle.
Coat the last layer with a beaten egg with a little water (do not varnish the edge because that prevents it from rising)
Let cool in the refrigerator for 30 minutes and preheat the oven to 220 degrees.
Bake for 30 minutes and remove from the oven. Carefully remove the "lid" and with the help of a spoon, empty the volvans. Return to the oven at 150 degrees for 5-15 minutes.
In a pan, add the garlic and onion in a little butter.
Add the mushrooms to release all their juice, then the parsley, salt and pepper.
Melt the velveeta cheese with the cream and stir. Add the cheese with cream to the mushrooms. Rectify the salt.
Serve hot on top of volovanes.
