You will love this delicious recipe for Dry Shrimp Soup. It is very popular in México as an appetizer before the main course or as a side dish a delicious meal, it is always a hit. Dry Shrimp gives it more flavor to this homemade Soup. This rich soup is common in the states of Sinaloa and Veracruz. You can make this soup with dry or fresh shrimp and use their shells. With a touch of lemon and chile, is the cure for all illness.

Ingredients

4 portions
  • 500 grams Dry shrimp
  • 2 white potatoes, cut into small cubes
  • 2 carrots
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 5 guajillo chilies
  • 1/4 onions
  • 1 1/2 liters Water
  • 4 branches parsley
  • 3 branches epazote
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 15 grams salt
  • 5 grams ground pepper

Preparation

Fill a pot with water and let it boil. Clean the guajillo peppers and soak them in hot water for 10 minutes.
Blend the guajillos with the tomato, garlic and onion. Add some water.
Sift the previous mix and pour into the pot with water. Cook for 10 minutes.
Add the dried shrimps
Peel the potatoes. Cut them into cubes.
Peel the carrots and cut them into small cubes.
Add the potato and the carrots to the soup.
Season with parsley, epazote and season
Cook for 10 more minutes. Serve warm and enjoy.

PRESENTATION

Serve in a deep dish along with bread.
