It is essential to wash the quinoa well and rub it with your hands before cooking, because its shell contains saponins, toxins that give it its bitter and characteristic flavor. To wash the quinoa correctly, you must rinse it under running water. Rub it with your hands until you no longer see foam. It is not recommended to let it soak, as this does not eliminate the saponins.

Quinoa can be steamed or baked. To steam it, use three parts of water or broth for one part of grain, this way you will double its size and release the white germ. You can also toast a few seconds in a pan before adding the liquid to cook it, this will give it a nutty flavor.

Keep it on low to medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the grain becomes transparent.
