Chai Atole

Make this delicious chai atole at home; it has that rich spiced flavor of cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, and clove that will captivate you. This warm drink is perfect for this cold season.

  • 1 liter low-fat milk
  • 1/4 tablespoons ground cardamom
  • 5 allspice berries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cloves
  • 1/2 tablespoons ginger powder
  • 1/4 tablespoons nutmeg powder
  • 3 star anise pods
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 envelope Maizena® cornstarch nut flavor
  • 1 cup cow's milk

  • Heat 1 liter of milk with the spices, and once it comes to a boil, remove from heat and cover. Let it steep for 10 minutes and strain.
  • Separately, dissolve the sugar and the Maizena® Corn Starch with walnut flavor in 1 cup of milk.
  • Pour the mixture of Maizena® Corn Starch with walnut flavor into the previously heated milk flavored with spices.
  • Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally for about 3 minutes, or until thickened.
