Champurrado Atole with Masa

Prepare a champurrado atole with traditional masa and treat your family to this delicious drink that is also very easy to make. Don’t think twice and get to work!

  • 5 cups water
  • 1 piloncillo, in pieces
  • 1/4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 Mexican chocolate tablets
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups masa dough
  • 1/4 cinnamon sticks, for decoration

  • Heat the water with the piloncillo, chocolate, and cinnamon stick in a pot over low heat for 10 minutes, until the piloncillo and chocolate are completely dissolved.
  • Place the masa and water in a blender and blend for 5 minutes or until completely dissolved. Set aside.
  • Add the masa mixture to the pot with water, piloncillo, cinnamon, and chocolate and mix using a spatula. Stir continuously to avoid lumps, cook for 10 minutes, or until it has a slightly thick consistency. Remove the champurrado atole from the heat and set aside.
  • Serve the champurrado atole with masa and decorate with a cinnamon stick.
