Oat Milk

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence

  • Wash and drain the oats. Place them in a container and cover with clean water. Let them soak overnight. Drain the water the next day, wash, and drain very well.
  • Pour the oats into a blender with 3 cups of water. If you want, you can add a little more water but the milk will be less thick.
  • Blend on low speed and gradually increase. Once you reach maximum speed, blend for 10 seconds and stop.
  • Place a fine strainer or a cloth strainer over a bowl and pour in what you blended. Slowly. When you have all the pulp in the strainer, press with a spoon to extract all the milk.
  • You can blend the milk again if you want and you can strain it two or three more times. It depends on how thick you want the milk.
  • Once you have the milk ready, add all the other ingredients and stir well until everything is combined.
  • Store in an airtight glass container. Place in the refrigerator. It will last 4 to 5 days. Be sure to shake before serving as solids may settle.
