Tejocote Lassi

Lassi is a traditional drink from India, which is often flavored with local fruity ingredients. By using tejocote, the recipe adapts to the very particular taste of Mexicans during the Christmas season.

  • 250 milliliters cow's milk
  • 250 milliliters yogurt
  • 500 grams tejocote
  • sugar, to taste
  • rods sugarcane, peeled
  • 1 pinch salt
  • tejocotes, in flakes or dehydrated slices for decoration

  • Cook the tejocotes in water with sugar until they are soft.
  • Process/blend the tejocotes.
  • Blend the milk with the yogurt, tejocote puree, and salt.
  • Taste and add sugar to your liking.
  • Refrigerate the lassi for 30 minutes.
  • Serve the lassi in glasses along with a sugar cane stick with a slice of tejocote stuck in it.
