In a pot, place the orange slices, brown sugar, star anise, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, bay leaf, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and 100 ml of red wine. Cook for 5 minutes.
Add the remaining wine and cook over medium heat for 25 more minutes.
Check the sweetness; if necessary, add a bit more sugar.
Pour the mulled wine into a pitcher using a strainer.
Serve the mulled wine, garnish with a slice of orange, and enjoy.
