Baguette

The baguette is the traditional French bread. With this recipe, you can enjoy it freshly made every day. To make the dough, you need a bread machine.

  • 450 grams all-purpose wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yeast, dry yeast
  • 325 milliliters water
  • vegetable oil

  • In the bread machine pan, pour the water first, then the flour, and then the salt. Make a hole in the middle of the flour down to the water and place the yeast there.
  • Place the pan in the machine, cover it, and select the French dough setting. The process takes about 3 hours; the machine will only make the dough rise, it will not bake it.
  • Remove the dough from the machine and place it on a clean surface with a little flour. Work the dough and divide it into 2 parts. Make a ball with each part and stretch the balls to form rectangles in the shape of a baguette.
  • In flour two kitchen towels and place the two baguettes separately inside, cover them with oiled plastic wrap and let them rest for 30-40 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celsius. Place the baguettes on a baking sheet greased with a little oil. Make sure they are well separated from each other.
  • With a knife, make cross cuts on the top. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and crispy.
