Butter Walnut Bread

This is a recipe that started as a simple cake sponge until I modified it and incorporated walnuts as an ingredient to enhance the flavor of the bread. It is a delicious bread, and its homemade touch and soft texture will be a dessert that you and your loved ones will adore this Christmas, I am sure of it.

  • 250 grams flour, sifted three times
  • 259 grams butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 150 grams walnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • Beat the butter at room temperature with a mixer until softened and lightened.
  • Without stopping to beat, gradually add the sugar.
  • Add only the yolks of the four eggs and the vanilla, continue beating.
  • Gradually add the flour previously sifted with the baking powder, alternating with the milk, and continue stirring.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the 4 egg whites to stiff peaks and add them to the mixture.
  • Now fold in the egg whites beaten to stiff peaks into the mixture using a wooden spatula until fully incorporated, then add the chopped walnuts and continue mixing.
  • Pour into a greased and floured baking dish.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes at 180° or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
