Garlic Knots

  • 8 grams dry yeast
  • 1/4 cups water, lukewarm
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/4 cups cow's milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cups butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cups cream cheese, for the cheese dip
  • 1/2 cups sour cream, for the cheese dip
  • 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, for the cheese dip
  • 1/2 cups Manchego cheese, for the cheese dip

  • Preheat oven to 356 °F.
  • In a bowl, mix dry yeast and lukewarm water. Let sit for 10 minutes. Set aside.
  • On a flat surface, pile flour into a mound. Add sugar, salt, garlic powder, milk, butter, and egg. Add hydrated yeast and knead until a smooth dough is obtained.
  • Knead for 20 minutes, transfer to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • In a bowl, mix butter, garlic, and parsley. Set aside.
  • Cut dough into 1-ounce balls. Using your hands, stretch into a strip and tie into a knot. Place on a baking sheet, brush with garlic and parsley butter, and let proof for 15 more minutes. Bake for 12 minutes or until brown.
  • For the cheese dip: In a small pot, heat cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and Manchego cheese. Mix until incorporated, season, and remove from heat.
  • Serve garlic knots with cheese dip on the side.
