Goudse Kaasbolletjes (Gouda Cheese Balls)

Gouda cheese balls work as a snack or to accompany a meal or dinner. A traditional recipe from the Netherlands that will surprise everyone.

  • 125 grams flour 125 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg yolk 1 egg yolk
  • 50 cow's milk 50 cow's milk
  • 75 grams butter 75 grams butter
  • 100 Gouda cheeses, grated
  •  salt  salt
  •  pepper pepper
  • spray oil

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Mix all the ingredients for the dough; it should be somewhat sticky but firm.
  • Make small balls and place them on a previously greased baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Using a cooking brush, glaze the balls with a little milk.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle a little more grated Gouda cheese on top.
  • Bake for another 10 minutes or until they are lightly golden. Turn off the oven and let them sit inside for another 10 minutes with the door slightly open.
