Homemade Kneaded Bread

Chilean people love bread, and it is very common for homemade kneaded bread to be made at family gatherings. That is why, during the celebration of September 18, freshly baked bread with butter is a must on Chilean tables. Prepare your own kneaded bread with this easy recipe!

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tablespoons dry yeast, 6g
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lard

  • In a bowl, mix the water with the dry yeast and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Add the flour and salt to the bowl and mix, then add the lard; knead until you have a smooth and homogeneous dough. Let it rest to ferment for 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  • Divide the dough into pieces of approximately 80 grams, shape into balls, cover with a damp cloth, and let rest on a tray for 15 minutes.
  • Gently press the balls and, with the help of a fork, poke the bread; bake for 20 minutes at 180 °C.
  • Enjoy with your favorite dishes.
