Homemade Milk Bread

Milk bread is an original recipe to make at home instead of making typical homemade bread. Bread is a fundamental food in many cultures and cuisines around the world, and it should be part of our diet. In a varied and balanced diet, carbohydrates should provide us with more than 50% of our daily energy, and we obtain them from foods like pasta, rice, or bread. Therefore, it is a good habit to include a piece of bread of about 30 grams in meals.

  • Beat the softened butter, milk, sugar, salt, and yeast at room temperature for 10 minutes. After this time, add the honey, olive oil, and mix well.
  • Gradually add the first mixture (butter, milk, sugar, salt, yeast) to the bowl with the mixed flours. “This phase is easier if you have a food processor, simply adding the mixture one and two.”
  • The milk bread dough will be ready when it separates from the bowl and easily comes off your fingers. “If it is still very sticky, add a little more flour.”
  • You can make small loaves (about 60g) or one large loaf. Knead the dough to make it as smooth as possible. Let it rest in a warm place. It should double in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 180º C. Before placing the bread in the oven, brush the surface of the bread with milk to give a golden color to the top.
  • Bake the bread.
