Blueberry Scones with Orange and Nutella

  • 2 tablespoons sugar, for the scones
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, for the scones
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, for the scones
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt, for the scones
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest, for the scones
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, cold, for the scones
  • 280 milliliters milk, for the scones
  • 1 cup cranberries, for the scones
  • 1 egg, for brushing
  • 8 teaspoons Nutella®, 15 g per serving

  • Use a pastry cutter to mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and orange zest in a large bowl. Add the butter and continue mixing until you achieve a sandy texture, then pour in the milk and combine until a dough forms.
  • Place the dough on a floured surface. Add the blueberries and knead until well integrated. Roll out with a rolling pin, use a cutter to shape the scones, and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush the scones with egg and bake at 180 °C for 30 minutes or until well cooked.
  • Spread the scones with a teaspoon of Nutella®, serve, and accompany with fruit and a glass of milk.
