Vanilla Ice Cream Stuffed Pan de Muerto

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 envelope dry yeast, 11 grams
  • 3 teaspoons McCormick® ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Mccormick® ground nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cups butter
  • 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon zest, of mandarin
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • milk, for brushing
  • butter, melted
  • sugar, for dusting
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, for filling
  • chocolate syrup, for filling

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, yeast, McCormick® Ground Cinnamon, McCormick® Ground Nutmeg, add the egg, butter, milk, mandarin zest, and orange zest, and knead until integrated and have a smooth and elastic dough.
  • Place the dough in a previously greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 2 hours, that is, let it rest during this time, or until the dough doubles in size.
  • On a floured surface, separate portions of the dough of approximately 80 grams each; using your hands, form balls and place them on a baking sheet leaving a space of 5 cm.
  • Separate thin strips of dough and with the help of your fingers, shape the bones by marking them as you knead; place on the already rolled balls in a cross shape. Brush with milk and let rise for 20 minutes.
  • Bake at 180 °C for 25 minutes. Let cool and set aside.
  • Brush the pieces of bread with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Set aside.
  • Cut the bread in half and fill with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.
  • Serve accompanied by a glass of milk.
