Fig Jam

A very tasty, easy, and nutritious jam made with fresh figs.

  • 500 grams fig, whole
  • 1/2 cups sugar, to taste
  • 1/4 cups red wine
  • 1/4 teaspoons lime juice

  • Cut off the tips and stems of the figs and cut them into quarters.
  • In a pot, cook the figs over medium heat for 15 minutes, and with a fork or a masher, crush them to make a puree while they cook.
  • When they start to take on a much darker color, add the sugar and stir well.
  • Add the wine and lemon and continue stirring. Cook for 5 more minutes over medium heat.
  • Pack in an airtight glass container while still hot. Place in the refrigerator, and as it cools, it will pasteurize itself.
