French Toast with Day of the Dead Bread

  • 3 cups egg, for the mixture
  • 1 cup whole milk, for the mixture
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence, for the mixture

  • 2 loaves Day of the Dead bread, cut in half
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon powder
  • icing sugar, for decoration
  • vanilla ice cream, for decoration
  • maple syrup, for decoration

  • Mix the egg, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Use a whisk to beat until combined. Set aside.
  • Melt the butter in a Tramontina® skillet over medium-low heat. While it melts, dip a slice of Day of the Dead bread into the mixture you prepared earlier.
  • Cook the Day of the Dead bread in a skillet with butter for about 1 minute on each side, or until it turns brown. Remove from heat and repeat the same procedure with the other slice of Day of the Dead bread.
  • Place the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix well with a spoon. Combine the slices of bread and sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  • Place the Day of the Dead French toast on a round plate, decorate with a little powdered sugar, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and drizzle with maple syrup.
