Homemade Machaca in Red Sauce

Machaca with egg is a very typical preparation from northern Mexico, this dish is a mix of scrambled egg with onion, serrano chili, and shredded dried meat. The best part is that we add a warm, very easy-to-make red sauce. Ideal for making a delicious taco with flour or corn tortilla.

  • 2 guajillo chiles, roasted, deveined, and soaked, for sauce
  • 1/2 white onions, roasted, for sauce
  • 1/4 cups fresh cilantro, cleaned and disinfected, for the sauce
  • 1 cup Del Fuerte® seasoned tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying, the sauce
  • 1/2 cups machaca beef
  • 3 tablespoons serrano chile, chopped
  • 1 cup tomato, diced into small cubes
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • flour tortillas, to accompany
  • beans, to accompany

  • For the sauce, blend the guajillo chili with the onion, cilantro, and Fuerte® Seasoned Tomato Puree.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat with the oil, fry the onion and add the beef machaca, serrano chili, tomato, and egg, cook until the egg is done. Pour the sauce over the egg and cook for 5 minutes. Season to taste and set aside.
  • Serve on a plate, accompany with beans and tortillas. Enjoy.
