Corn Tamales with Cottage Cheese

  • 5 cups corn kernels, natural (keep the leaves)
  • 1 cup cottage cheese, LALA®
  • 1 1/2 cups corn masa flour
  • 11/4 cups butter, LALA®, melted
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Add the corn kernels to the processor and grind lightly. Mix the ground corn with the flour and cottage cheese perfectly.
  • Beat the butter with the sugar until it is slightly fluffy.
  • Add the butter to the corn mixture and stir until combined; add the baking powder and salt.
  • Place two or three tablespoons of the mixture on each corn leaf and close. You can tie the tamales with a strip of the leaf to prevent them from opening.
  • Heat the water in the steamer, arranging the tamales upright one by one. Cover tightly and cook for about 1 hour. Uncover the steamer after the time is up and check if they are cooked. The leaf should come off easily.
