Pan de muerto flavored tamales

  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups corn masa flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom essence
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • corn husk, hydrated

  • Use the paddle attachment of the mixer to cream the butter and sugar until a pale color is achieved.
  • Add the corn flour, rice flour, baking powder, milk, orange blossom essence, and orange zest. Beat the mixture until all ingredients are incorporated.
  • Fill the corn husks with the tamale dough, wrap, and place in a steamer with water. Cook for 1 hour or until well cooked.
  • Roll the pan de muerto flavored tamales in sugar and serve with a café de olla.
