Plantain Molotes

This recipe for MOLOTES made with Plantain is incredibly delicious. Its golden crispy texture on the outside and soft on the inside is irresistibly tempting. Prepare them as a main dish or as a side to accompany your best dishes at any time of day.

  • 6 cups water
  • 3 plantains, ripe
  • 200 grams Oaxaca cheese, LALA® shredded
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying the molotes
  • 1 box sour cream, LALA®
  • 1 cup tomatillo
  • 1 teaspoon onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cloves garlic
  • 1 serrano chile
  • 2 pinches salt

  • Heat the water in a medium pot over high heat, boil the plantains with the skin for 15 minutes.
  • Remove them from the water, peel them, and mash them until you get a puree.
  • Place a little flour on your hands, take two tablespoons of plantain puree. Fill with Oaxaca cheese, close perfectly shaping it into a molote, and dust it with flour.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat, fry the plantain molotes until they are golden brown on the outside for about 5 minutes. Remove and drain the excess oil.
  • Blend the tomato, onion, garlic, and chili without liquid until well ground. Season.
  • Serve the molotes with a tablespoon of cream and top with green salsa.
