  • 4 potatoes, peeled and grated
  • water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cups American cheese, grated
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • butter
  • sour cream, for decoration
  • green onion, only the green part, sliced thin

  • Soak the potatoes in a bowl with enough water, let sit for 2 minutes, and drain. Place on a tray with absorbent paper and let dry.
  • Place the potato in a bowl and add the egg, American cheese, flour, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix and form the hot cakes.
  • Fry the savory hot cakes one by one in a medium skillet with enough butter. Remove and set aside.
  • Serve the hot cakes and decorate with sour cream and green onions.
