  • Melt the 6 tablespoons of butter in a large pan and add the 1/3 cup of sugar. Mix allowing the sugar to melt.
  • Cut the apples into strips and cook in the sugar and butter mixture for 10 minutes. Add the whipped cream and continue cooking for 2 minutes. Get out of the fire.
  • Meanwhile mix the flour, remaining sugar, wholemeal flour, baking powder, powdered ginger, cinnamon, salt, pepper, and cloves in a deep bowl.
  • In a small bowl, mix the milk with the lemon juice and allow it to rest for 5 minutes.
  • Add the milk, honey and eggs to the flour mixture and mix well with a balloon whisk.
  • Add butter and orange zest and finish by beating well.
  • Grease your waffle with cooking spray and warm for 2-3 minutes.
  • Make the pothole waffles in pothole (based on the size of your waffle maker) until they are lightly browned. While cooking the rest of the dough, cover the ones you have already made so that they do not get cold.
  • Serve the waffles with 2 tablespoons of the caramelized apple mixture.
