Baked Ham and Spicy Caramelized Onions

  • 1 deli ham, smoked
  • 1 cup pitted green olive, finely chopped
  • 1 cup almonds, peeled
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 20 green onions, without tail
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cups water
  • 5 tablespoons Salsa Huichol® hot sauce
  • 1 pinch salt

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  • Pierce the leg ham with a wooden corn stick, and fill it with olives, almonds, and raisins.
  • Mix melted butter, apricot jam in a bowl, and cover the ham with this mixture. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the ham from the oven, take off the aluminum foil, and coat again with the jam. Put it back in the oven for another 20 minutes.
  • Heat the butter in a deep skillet over medium heat, add the spring onions, sugar, water, spicy Huichol sauce, and cook for 20 minutes or until the onions are soft. Be careful not to move them too much to avoid breaking them.
