Beef Steaks in Morita Sauce

Delicious beef steaks in spicy sauce to enjoy as a homemade menu or for a taquiza.

  • 1/2 kilos beefsteak
  • 1/2 kilos green tomato
  • 3 morita chiles, or chipotle chiles
  • 1 onion, medium white
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 potatoes, large
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups water
  • black pepper, to taste

  • Blend the garlic cloves, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup of water and pour into a container to marinate the steaks in this mixture.
  • Boil the green tomatillo or miltomate and add the morita chiles until cooked. Blend these with the garlic cloves.
  • Sear the sliced onion and potatoes with their skins cut into 2-3 cm cubes in a saucepan for about 3-4 minutes, avoiding burning the onion. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Drain the steaks and sear them in the same oil. Reserve the water from the marinade.
  • Once seared, add the blended sauce and let it come to a boil, add the potatoes and onion, add the remaining water (from the marinade and the missing cup of water), salt to taste. Cover and cook until the potato is tender.
