Pepper Steak

A classic French dish, pepper steak is a spectacular dish that will impress all your guests.

  • 2 chunks beef tenderloin, 2 cm thick
  • 4 tablespoons black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 6 tablespoons Great Value® unsalted butter
  • Great Value® olive oil
  • Great Value® plain salt

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius.
  • Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Place a large skillet that can also go in the oven over medium heat and heat a light layer of olive oil.
  • When the oil is hot, add the steaks and sear for 3 minutes on one side. Flip the steaks and bake for 3-4 minutes or until they are cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Place the steaks on their plates and cover with aluminum foil to keep them warm.
  • Place the skillet back on the stove over medium heat and add the red wine. Cook for about 8 minutes or until the sauce has reduced to about 1/4 cup.
  • Add the butter and whisk with a whisk until fully incorporated. Pour the sauce over the steaks and serve.
